  5. Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95 has been upgraded to both enhance 
  6. performance and resolve some compatibility issues. To help you
  7. maintain current protection against computer viruses, including
  8. the newly discovered macro viruses, Symantec is distributing NAVPATCH. 
  9. This program upgrades your already installed Norton AntiVirus 
  10. version 95.0 to version 95.0.a automatically.

  12. NAV95PCH
  13. --------
  14. NAV95PCH.EXE is a self-extracting archive that contains NAVPATCH, the
  15. upgrade patch program, its support files, and this READNOW.TXT file.
  16.  
  17.   To extract the upgrade files from the compressed archive:
  18.  
  19.      1. Copy NAV95PCH.EXE to a temporary folder on your local drive. 
  20.         You can use any folder except the one where Norton AntiVirus 
  21.         is installed.
  22.  
  23.         For example, copy NAV95PCH.EXE to the C:\TEMP folder or the
  24.         C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder.

  26.      2. Double click NAV95PCH in a "My Computer" window or the
  27.         Windows Explorer.
  28.  
  29.         The patch files are extracted from the archive automatically.
  30.  
  31. NAVPATCH
  32. --------
  33. NAVPATCH is the program that performs the actual upgrade.
  34.  
  35.   To upgrade your installed version of Norton AntiVirus:
  36.  
  37.      *  Double click the NAVPATCH icon in a "My Computer" window or
  38.         the Windows Explorer.
  39.  
  40.         NAVPATCH finds your installed Norton AntiVirus and performs
  41.         the upgrade automatically. The whole process takes a few
  42.         minutes to run.
  43.  
  44. After the upgrade is completed, Norton AntiVirus options are returned
  45. to their default settings. If you've customized scan settings or
  46. exclusions, for example, you must redo them.
  47.  
  48. NOTE: When you update Norton AntiVirus using this patch program, the
  49. Help About box will indicate that the software is unregistered and
  50. for evaluation only. Ignore this text--it is an expected result of
  51. the patch process. Your software is still valid and registered.

  53. Troubleshooting
  54. ---------------
  55. If any critical Norton AntiVirus files are either damaged or missing,
  56. the NAVPATCH program will not work. In this case, you must uninstall
  57. Norton AntiVirus, reinstall it from your original distribution disks,
  58. then run the NAVPATCH program again.

  60. To uninstall Norton AntiVirus, choose Control Panels, choose
  61. Add/Remove Programs, select Norton AntiVirus on the Install/Uninstall
  62. tab, and click Add/Remove.
